Rhb Albulaline: A masterpiece of railway engineering Where landscape and railway blend into one: in a series of wide expanses and elegant man-made structures, along the winding route through abruptly-sloping Alpine valleys. Monumental landmarks along the way include the Landwasser Viaduct, the series of winding tunnels between Bergün and Preda.

The spectacular Albula mountain railway winds through switchback tunnels, through covered sections and over lofty viaducts. For one 8 km stretch, the Railway History path runs alongside the impressive and fascinating alpine railway line. Model railway demonstrations on the (nearly) scale model in the local museum give railway enthusiasts an overview of what is, at first sight, the truly bewildering course followed by the Albula line. Since 2010 the "Cultural Landscape of the Albula-Bernina Line" is an UNESCO World Heritage.

Sited right in the middle of the ruggedly-romantic landscape of the upper Albula Valley, the Railway Heritage Educational Trail informs walkers about the spectacular course of the Rhaetian Railway in this section in an exciting and compelling manner. The trail leads to numerous loops, across daring bridges and to the many tunnels. Experience railway engineering at first hand.

You do not have to be a railway historian to be amazed by the Albula railway line, which is still maintained in its entirety in almost its original condition, 100 years after its construction. In winter, the resort of Bergün is a mecca for sledgers.
